Cruising to Vietnam? Here’s How to Fill the Temporary Address on Your eVisa

Last Update: Wednesday February 11, 2026

Vietnam e-visa — a simple and convenient way for all national and territorial citizens to obtain a valid visa to enter Vietnam through a specific port of entry.

To apply for a Vietnam e-visa, applicants must fill out an online application form provided by the Vietnam Immigration Department. Each form is valid for one adult applicant only, although it may include children under 14 years old listed on the same passport.

Today, we’ll walk you through how to fill the temporary address on your eVisa.

1. Understanding What It Means

When applying for your Vietnam eVisa online, you’ll be asked to enter a temporary residential address in Vietnam.

This field tells the Vietnam Immigration Department where you plan to stay during your visit — similar to how other countries ask for your accommodation address or first night’s stay.

It doesn’t have to be your permanent residence or a long-term location. It simply identifies where immigration officers can locate you if needed during your stay.

2. What address should you enter to the apply for Evisa?

2.1. Use Your Hotel or Accommodation Address

The most common and safest choice is to enter the hotel name and address where you’ll stay on your first night in Vietnam.

For example:

“Hanoi La Siesta Hotel, 94 Ma May Street, Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi, Vietnam”

If you’re staying in Ho Chi Minh City:

“The Reverie Saigon Hotel, 22–36 Nguyen Hue Boulevard, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City”

Pro Tips: If you haven’t booked your hotel yet, choose one in the area where you plan to stay and use its address temporarily. You can update your accommodation after you arrive — it won’t affect your visa.

2.2. Visiting Friends or Family?

If you’ll stay with a friend, relative, or partner, you can write:

“Staying with friend — [Full address], [City]”

For example:

“Staying with friend —  45 Phan Xich Long Street, Phu Nhuan District, Ho Chi Minh City”

Make sure the address is real and complete (including street, district, and city).

2.3. Transit or Short Stopovers

Even if you’re only in Vietnam for a short stay — say, 1 or 2 days before continuing to another country — you still must fill this field.

In this case, simply list your hotel near the airport or your short-term accommodation.

For example:

“Ibis Saigon Airport Hotel, 2 Hong Ha Street, Tan Binh District, Ho Chi Minh City”

3. Common Mistakes to Avoid

3.1. Leaving the Address Blank

Leaving the “temporary address” empty is one of the top reasons eVisa applications are delayed or rejected. Always provide something, even if it’s just your first-night hotel.

3.2. Using Vague Words Like “Not Decided Yet”

Avoid typing “N/A,” “unknown,” or “to be confirmed.” The immigration system doesn’t accept these. A valid-looking address is required.

3.3. Using a Fake or Random Address

It’s best to use a real hotel (even one you plan to change later). Don’t copy a random location from Google Maps — use an actual, complete address.

3.4. Mismatch Between Airport and Address City

If your port of entry is Da Nang, but your temporary address says “Hanoi,” your application could be flagged for inconsistency. Make sure both match.
