Consular legalization overview

Consular Legalization is a procedure legalizing documents and certifying the authenticity of the seals, signatures and title, not covering certification of contents and forms on the documents that was issued in one country to have legal use in Vietnam.

Eligibility (WHO NEEDS TO USE CONSULAR LEGALIZATION?)

Individuals and organizations including but not limited to those:

Who are using Foreign civil status registration documents, such as marriage certificates, birth certificates, divorce decrees, etc for use in Vietnam;
Who are using Foreign educational diplomas/ degrees or Health certification, for job application in Vietnam;
Who are requesting to use papers and documents related to the criminal record of foreigner in Vietnam;
Who are doing business in Vietnam, such as receiving payments from a foreign entity or importing goods from abroad (business registration certificate, accounting books, CO, CQ, etc)
Who are Vietnamese residing overseas wanting to carry out administrative procedures in Vietnam.

Identification documents

It can be identity card, passport or valid passport substitute
Provide 01 original or photocopy
Papers and documents requested for consular legalization

Those have to be approved by diplomatic missions, consulates or other agencies authorized to perform consular functions of the foreign country
Provide 01 original and photocopy
Translation of papers and documents requested into Vietnamese or English

If the papers and documents are not prepared in these languages Provide 01 original and photocopy
